Vanilla extract
Exceedingly easy to make. Wildly Delicious. Takes SO much patience. The oil on top- thats from the vanilla beans!
After the beans are extracted, here is my process to maximize the use of your beans. 1) squeeze the bean seeds into your baked goods and confections! 2) use the empty pod to make vanilla sugar, vanilla salt or vanilla bean paste recipes are here as well. 3) If making vanilla salt or sugar, grind the dry bean into vanilla bean powder.

Ingredients

1oz vanilla beans

8oz unflavored 70-90 proof unflavored alcohol
instructions

Use a tall, wide mouthed mason jar

Add beans and alcohol, make sure beans are submerged in alcohol

Top with a lid (DO NOT seal them with pressure or a heat bath, it is VERY DANGEROUS)

Label with date

Let sit for 12-24 months. Once it smells like vanilla and not alcohol its ready!
